FAQ'S

Where are we?

Directions

Our address is Little Pethills Farm, Hollin Lane, Sutton, Macclesfield, SK110NJ.

We are based in Sutton, just 15 minutes away from Macclesfield town centre. You will find us down a single track road just off Hollin Lane on a farm called "Little Pethills Farm." If you are coming from Sutton Village, drive straight along Hollin Lane through Sutton, past the Rossendale Hall, past the Ryles Arms and keep going until you see our blue sign with our logo on your right. If you are coming from the A54, turn off onto Hollin Lane and continue for around 1km. Look out for our blue sign with our logo on your left, and take the turn slowly. We are the farm that is at the END of the road.

Please drive carefully on our lane, we recommend driving around 10mph, as there are very few turning points and lots of blind bends so this will keep it safe for everybody using the road. Our What3Words is figure.pump.smiles

Google maps should take you right to the farm, however, if you are having any trouble, you can contact us and we'll try our best to help. Click here to view our How To Find Us page.

Will the weather affect my booking?

At Macclesfield Alpacas, the safety of our visitors, staff, and alpacas is our top priority. In the event of adverse weather conditions, we may need to cancel scheduled Alpaca Experiences. This decision is made with everyone’s well-being in mind, especially as access to our farm involves a single-track road that can become hazardous in poor weather.

If your booking is affected, we will notify you as soon as possible and work with you to reschedule your experience or provide a refund. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in these circumstances.

Can my child walk an alpaca on their own?

Children ages 2-10 are required to share an alpaca with an adult ticketholder, under our "Assisted Walker" ticket. This is because alpacas can be quite strong and by having this in place, it ensures the safety of you and the alpacas. We reserve the right to ask for anyone to be an assisted walker if we think that it would be safer, and also reserve the right to refuse anyone to participate if they do not follow this. â€‹

Do you serve food?

We currently do not serve any food on site.

Do you do large group bookings?

Yes we do! Please contact us to enquire.

Do you do birthday parties?

Yes, we do! We have a venue onsite which is perfect for any special occasions. We also can include Alpaca Tea Parties at a discounted rate to make your party as special as possible. Please see our "Venue Hire" page for more information.

What should I wear?

As we are a farm, we do recommend wearing comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting a bit dirty. Wearing wellington boots and bringing a raincoat would be a good choice too!

Are you disability accessible?

We are accessible for those with disabilities for most of our experiences. Our Alpaca Tea Party is perfect for people in wheelchairs as it is a seated experience however we would not recommend our MaccPacas Experience due to the uneven and hilly terrain. We also do not currently have a disabled access toilet, however this is something we are working on.

Do I need to make a reservation?

Yes. We operate by bookings only as our farm is in a rural location off a single lane track, so controlling numbers is very important. If you would like to book one of our experiences click here.

How long does The MaccPacas Experience last?

The MaccPacas Experience lasts around 40-45 minutes. We recommend planning to give yourself an hour, just in case of any unexpected delays or the experience runs a little bit longer than intended.

Do you trek the alpacas?

No, we do not trek our alpacas. Our MaccPacas Experience is not trekking experience, and this is not something we offer. We only walk the alpacas for a maximum of 15 minutes during our experiences, because they are not naturally trekking animals, and their wellbeing is our highest priority. Unlike some other species, alpacas are gentle, sensitive creatures who thrive in calm and familiar environments rather than being taken on long walks or strenuous activities. Forcing them into situations that cause stress or discomfort would go against our values of compassionate and responsible care. Instead, we focus on creating safe, positive interactions which respect their nature, ensuring that every decision we make supports the health and happiness of our alpacas, above all else. Please do not book this experience if you are looking for an hour long walk with the alpacas.

Can I bring my dog?

As much as we love them, dogs are not allowed at Macclesfield Alpacas. This is because some alpacas can find unfamiliar dogs quite scary!

Are children allowed?

Yes children are allowed! However we recommend that very young children are in a carrier throughout the experience as the farm is not suitable for prams.

Do you have a toilet?

We have a portaloo for customer use on site. Please note that unfortunately this is not currently disability accessible, but this is something we are working on.

Do you sell alpaca products?

Yes we do. We sell alpaca products online and in our gift shop. Click here to browse!

Do you hire your Alpacas out?

Yes we do. Whether you want alpacas at your wedding, birthday party or any other special occasion, contact us today to discuss further!

Are we licenced?

Yes we are. Our licence policy reference number is CE/AE33/310527
